How to Change Lock Screen on Mac

If you’re tired of seeing the same lock screen image every time you open your Mac, it’s time to make a change. Customizing your lock screen not only allows you to add a personal touch to your computer, but it also gives you another opportunity to express your style and creativity.

Here are the steps to change the lock screen on your Mac:

Step 1: Choose Your Image

The first step is to select the image you want to use as your new lock screen background. You can choose a photo from your own collection or pick one from the built-in wallpapers on your Mac.

To use your own photo, simply open the image in Preview or Photos, and click on the Share button. Then, select the Set Desktop Picture option. This will automatically set the chosen image as your lock screen background.

If you prefer to choose from the built-in wallpapers, go to System Preferences and click on Desktop & Screen Saver. From there, you can browse through various categories and select the image you like.

Step 2: Adjust the Image Position

Once you’ve selected your image, you may want to adjust its position to fit your screen perfectly. To do this, go back to System Preferences and click on Desktop & Screen Saver again. This time, click on the Desktop tab and choose the image you just set as your lock screen background.

Now, click on the Fit to Screen option to make sure the image is adjusted perfectly. You can also experiment with other options like Center or Fill Screen to find the best fit for your lock screen.

Step 3: Enable Screen Saver

Another way to customize your lock screen is by enabling a screen saver. To do this, go back to System Preferences once again, but this time, click on Desktop & Screen Saver and choose the Screen Saver tab. From there, you can choose from the various screen saver options available.

To make your screen saver appear as your lock screen background, check the box that says “Show screen saver on login screen.” This way, when you wake up your Mac or switch users, you’ll be greeted with your chosen screen saver.

With these simple steps, you can easily customize the lock screen on your Mac and give it a fresh look. Whether you choose a beautiful photograph or an animated screen saver, changing the lock screen is a great way to make your Mac feel more personal.
